Blackwater was founded in 1767 by Josiah Blackwater, a known huntsman who was well regarded at the time. Josiah was known for his prowess in eliminating all bison and natives from West Elizabeth before eventually marrying a young native girl and taking her away,

Due to his actions against the Natives and lands, it is said that many tribes came together to curse upon Blackwater, deeming the town shall drown in its own sins and darkness until Redemption is found 100 years after its birth.

In fearing retribution Josiah fled to St Denis, declaring  his own town can "Go to hell, and he will go to St Denis" where he eventually succumbed to illness.

In his absence the townsfolk of Blackwater struggled for many years under outlaw reign, seemingly lost the townsfolk were preparing to flee when out of the mist itself appeared the Lawman...With preaching ways redemption is in its mists but will the creatures that have taken up residence in Blackwater, be so willing to give the town back...
